Frequently Asked Questions

What are your locations that you cover?
At the moment, I cover multiple areas in the West Midlands. I strictly only stick to open parks and nature reserves as they offer some of the most beautiful backdrops. It offers a level of security for us both too. I am able to offer locations from my list, or can agree a location with yourself if it matches the criteria and it is in the West Midlands. Currently, all my photoshoots take place outdoors. Because the shoots are outdoors, as season changes, so will the scenery, so please be aware of this when booking your shoot (And with that, the style of editing will change also)!

Where are you based?
I live in the beautiful rural town of Dudley. Surrounded by both City and Countryside, and pretty much Central of West Midlands, no location in the West Midlands is too far to travel. This therefore means that I am more confident and will have more locations in this area that I use and are confident make the perfect backdrops for your pets!

My dog isn’t very good off the lead, is this going to be a problem?

No. It is never a problem. The safety of others and your pets are the most important things to myself. If your pet has to stay on a lead that is completely fine. I have the magical skills to alter images to make it look like you were never even there. If anything, I may occasionally ask if you can put your pet on a lead so we can get them to do certain poses as it can make the initial job much easier! You can see an example of this in my shoot with my brothers dog ‘Tia’ who has severe anxiety, could not keep still, and even on the lead, every shot was taken within a split second.

What is your turnover time?

Each image can take easily an hour to do. What I usually like to do when I get home after a shoot is jump straight into it. I am to have one image edited as a ‘taster’ for yourself the day of shoot. For all others, the usual turnover is within a week! I usually aim to have all images edited within days.

How are we going to do viewing sessions?

Due to the current Coronavirus Pandemic, I will not be offering any face-to-face home viewing sessions. Depending on restrictions at the time there is the opportunity to meet up in a coffee shop to discuss this! But during times of lockdown you will be sent a unique link with your images, you can then chose which images are your favourite and we will go from there! If you decide you would like to have any images as prints, further payment will be required unless in the package. The usual turn-over for this is within 4 weeks.

What do you usually do on your shoots?

I come equipped with plenty of treats and some dog toys to help encourage stimulate your dog. Especially if your dog is anxious. I will usually meet up at the car park of selected location. From there we will walk around the park or area we are in and chose locations that would make some of the most beautiful backdrops for your pet. A lot of the shoot is walking around, and I strongly advise pet owners to wear suitable footwear such as Wellies or Boots. Some stream walking may be required for certain locations, but the water will never be more deep than your hand. I like to get a mix of relaxed images, action images and portrait images. My main goal is to relax your pet, so depending how your pet behaves this can be done in any order!

We live in England… so what if the weather is poor?

It’s inevitable there are going to be times a shoot is booked and we are in for a stormy, wet, rainy, cold day. I am able to work all weather, however if it looks like the weather will be too poor, I will be in contact with yourself to see if you would like to reschedule to a better time that will be no issue. My main priority is getting the most gorgeous images of your pet!

What if I need to cancel my shoot?

All bookings require a non-refundable £50 charge at time of booking. So please be sure you are certain this is what you want when making your booking. We all have things to do, so I currently offer a 72 hour warning if you need to change the date of your shoot which will then be fully flex. If you have to suddenly cancel please email me at missdpetography@gmail.com as soon as possible with your name, date, and time of booking and the reason for cancellation. I do work with strong understanding Courtesy and Care and I know sometimes there may be extenuating reasons for this, so let me work with you to see what we can do.

What other pets do you shoot?

I am currently only doing Dogs. But from Summer 2021 I will be offering beautifully bespoke Equine portraits. I will soon also be doing cats and other small pets. But with covid restrictions it is important we adhere to this and with cats, they generally need an indoor environment. I do solely rely on natural light for shoots too, so please take this in mind when booking!

Do you edit the images?

Yes, each image is carefully edited. The time it takes to edit an image can solely depend on what is in it. This means it can go from anything from 20 minutes to in some extreme situations 2 hours. It would depend on the lighting of the image, whether things need removing. I generally alter the light in the image to make your pet the main subject and also make them have a ‘majestic’ feel to them.
